Sustainable Production
Dr Max Buxton
Scientist
I am a botanist with a passion for flowers and how different floral traits attract and promote different pollinators. While I have an interest in all pollinators like bees and birds, the importance of pollination at night and how flowers benefit from nocturnal pollinators has drawn me in like a moth to a flame...or should I say, like a moth to a flower? My current research is focusing on optimizing fruit production through the efficient use of managed and wild pollinators, and on enhancing our understanding of how the environment impacts floral physiology and wider ecology. I help to lead our early career researcher community, organizing different events (such as writing workshops) and initiatives (such as mentoring and travel grants) to ensure those early in their career can continue to develop into the leaders of tomorrow.
