New Cultivar Innovation

My journey with Plant & Food Research started when I was a summer student in Hawke’s Bays plant pathology team. There I spent my time investigating control of the disease Fire Blight on commercial orchards. I then went on to complete my Masters in biochemistry at Otago University. My thesis was focused on male-sterility systems in flowering plants and self-incompatibility in ryegrass. I'm now part of the Fruit Quality team. We are interested in the genomics of flavour and ripening in kiwifruit and apple, as well as the volatile compounds that give rise to taste and smell.
