Invest in a breeding programme

Breeding a new cultivar with all the characteristics for success is a long-term investment. We have a history of breeding cultivars that succeed, both for growers and marketers.

We maintain collections of plants, with a wide range of characteristics, from which we can identify suitable parents for our breeding programmes. We also invest in parental development to set our breeding programmes up for long-term success.

We work with our partners to understand what they’re looking for in a new cultivar so we can quickly identify those with the characteristics to meet their needs, including harvest window, yield, storage ability, taste and appearance.

We also work with our partners to take selections through grower trials to understand which ones perform the best and have all the right stuff for potential commercialisation. That includes understanding where the cultivar might be grown around the world, the best way to grow and harvest, and securing the right legal protections so we and our partners can make the most from the investment.

We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in a potential breeding programme for
