Plant varieties

Our breeding and commercialisation efforts support some of the most famous produce brands in the world. We’re world leaders when it comes to breeding new varieties of plants that meet the needs of growers, marketers and consumers. We have breeding knowledge across a range of plant species and growing environments, and we create new naturally-bred cultivars and the associated knowledge of how best to grow and harvest their bounty.

We are also leaders in developing intellectual property strategies and in the global commercialisation of our varieties. We back up our science knowledge with expertise in intellectual property and strategic commercialisation. We also use our experience in plant logistics to move plant material around the world in line with plant export and quarantine requirements.

We work with partners on long-term breeding programmes, which might take a decade or more to come to fruition. We also have cultivars that we’ve developed by ourselves that we license to partners around the globe.

We breed new varieties to meet different environmental conditions, with locations in the USA, Europe, South East Asia and Australasia. Our programmes focus on the traits that growers want – like pest and disease resistance, improved yield, targeted harvest windows and enhanced sustainability – as well as the characteristics that consumers enjoy, offering the complete package for our breeding partners and licensees.
