I am a biosystems engineer with a keen interest in how modelling and technology can be applied to improve the quality and value of fresh and processed food products, and the sustainability and resilience of their value chains. I lead the Digital Horticultural Systems Direction, part of Plant & Foods Ngā Pou Rangahau Growing Futures™ investment. This multi-year platform has the goal of developing a digital twin platform for perennial fruit crops that will allow us to design and simulate, and ultimately, prescribe and control current and novel future food systems. Prior to joining Plant & Food Research in 2018, I held management roles and led major research programmes in biosystems engineering across Massey University in NZ, London South Bank University in the UK, and Charles Sturt University in Australia.
