Ecotoxicology testing

Our Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) accredited laboratory supports environmental safety.

Plant & Food Research is committed to ensuring environmental sustainability in agriculture. Ecotoxicity testing helps us to understand potential non-target impacts of an agrichemical and is a fundamental requirement for registration or licensing of agrichemicals – including plant protection products, pharmaceuticals, and veterinary products.

Beneficial arthropods contribute to food production systems, biodiversity, and the overall health of people and planet. We are one of few GLP facilities accredited for ecotoxicological risk assessments of pollinators in the southern hemisphere (the only in Australasia). Our team specialises in pollinator biology and performance across laboratory, semi-field and field conditions.

We apply standardised methods based on OECD guidelines to testing ecotoxicology within our GLP operational framework (as accredited by IANZ), ensuring reliability and transparency of the resulting data and reports. Our tests meet the requirements of environmental agencies in the OECD, including those of the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority, Environment Protection Australia, and the USA’s Environmental Protection Agency.

Our team has a depth of experience in discovery sciences as well as ecotoxicology testing, making us uniquely equipped to design and lead out additional research/testing to fit custom needs as well.
