As Plant & Food Research's Manager of Biosafety and Environmental Compliance, I lead the strategic risk areas of biosecurity, hazardous substances and new organisms, food and radiation, controlled drugs and medicines, plant protection and animal products. With an MSc from University of Canterbury, I have an extensive regulatory policy background working for three Ministers of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, industry bodies, and central and local government. Since joining Plant & Food Research in 2008, I have established and managed our regulatory systems for research using restricted and risk materials. Trained by the American Biological Safety Association and International Federation of Biosafety Professionals, I am an inaugural member of the Association of Biosafety for Australia and New Zealand.
