Kia ora koe, Ko taku tūrangawaewae ko Texas. Ko Comal te awa. Ko Ashley ahau. E noho ana ahau ki Tauwhare. He rangahau pī ahau. I am bee researcher with keen interest in animal behaviour and biology. I began my career as a zookeeper, and later picked up beekeeping as a hobby. Learning more about how a honey bee colony functions lead me to graduate studies in entomology at the University of Florida, and eventually, my current role as a scientist in the Bee Biology and Productivity Team here at Plant & Food Research. Our team works with Aotearoa’s beekeeping, horticultural, and arable industries to improve bee health and productivity for honey production and pollination while protecting native species and ecosystems.
