New Cultivar Innovation

Edwige Souleyre

Senior Scientist

Kia ora, I am a senior scientist working in the Fruit Quality team within the New Cultivar Innovation group. I graduated with degrees from universities in France and Scotland and migrated to New Zealand in 2001 to work for Plant & Food Research. My expertise includes genomic, molecular and biochemistry techniques. My research focuses on volatile organic compounds; I am particularly interested in ester and terpene biosynthesis in fruits and how these compounds affect fruit flavour. I am also leading a project to characterise key plant genes governing fruit rot resistance against opportunistic infections. My recent research has focused on characterizing transgenic kiwifruit and apple plants in which flavour related genes have been manipulated.
