Dr Falk Kalamorz

Scientist

I studied Microbiology and Genetics in Germany where I obtained my degrees for work on signal transduction systems and small regulatory RNAs in prokaryotes. Afterwards, I worked on the function and structure of F1Fo-ATPases in extremophilic bacteria before joining Plant & Food Research in 2016. My current work is focused on new molecular plant pathogen diagnostics including isothermal amplification methods, innovative methods of pest and disease control and sensor technologies for the detection of pests and pathogens. I also have a strong interest in molecular markers for plant health monitoring and the integration of plants with man-made systems.
