Dr Georgina Dowd
Research Team Leader - Marine Cell Technologies
After completing my PhD at University College Cork, Ireland, I moved to Dunedin to take up a post-doctoral position at the University of Otago where I studied host-pathogen interactions in human models. I joined Plant & Food Research in 2016, where I quickly began working on culturing cells from New Zealand finfish for a range of applications, including cellular agriculture, infectious disease, and toxicology. Currently, I lead a team of five researchers, and together we are building a platform of expertise and capabilities focused on using cell lines to enhance the health and well-being of our fish and explore their potential in innovative technologies.
